Local Patients Selected to be National Testimonials
We are extremely proud of the results our patients have achieved. Several of our patients have gone on to become role models for others, sharing their weight-loss stories on the national stage. Kentucky's own Debbie E., who lost 49 pounds with our Healthy Solutions® Program, even graced the cover of HMR's national brochure in 2008.
Breaking New Ground in Weight-Management Research
Some of the most important dieting breakthroughs in the weight-management field were discovered at our clinic as part of our ongoing research on the treatment of obesity and its co-morbidities. Under the direction of world-renowned endocrinologist and researcher James W. Anderson M.D., Professor of Medicine and Clinical Nutrition Emeritus at the University of Kentucky and Chairman of HMR's Medical Advisory Board Emeritus, our program results have been featured in dozens of medical journals, including two recently published studies on patients who have lost 100 pounds or more.
We welcome the chance to work with you to help you reach your goals!

What do you like to do for fun? I love spending time with my family: my husband and 2 kids ages 5 and 7. I also love to scrapbook and sew!
Ashley Kirkwood, Account Manager, National Trainer
How long have you worked with HMR? I started as a Health Educator with HMR in 2002.
What is your educational background? I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
What do you like most about your job with HMR? I love the people that I work with every day and it’s so nice to work with others who are all working toward the same goal: helping our patients and clients change their lives and improve their health. I love hearing success stories from our patients and clients -- people who have a new lease on life after changing their behaviors and improving their health.
What is your favorite HMR Recipe? I don’t think I have one favorite, but here are two I like: 120 Vanilla Shake with sugar-free vanilla pudding, a splash of sugar-free vanilla syrup, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I also love the HMR Multigrain cereal, with frozen mixed berries and Splenda. I let it sit for a few minutes so it takes on the consistency of cobbler.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to be outside! Specifically, hiking and camping (but only in good weather – cool temps and no bugs) and running and walking with my Australian Cattle Dog, Max. Although I don’t have much time to do it, I also enjoy cooking and baking.
Sarah-Ashley Solie, RD, Program Operations Specialist

What is your educational background? My educational background is in nutrition. I have a Master's Degree in Community Nutrition and I’m a Registered Dietitian.
What do you like most about your job with HMR? I like the fact that I can confidently say that we have a program that works. Many patients come in to our program with a history of failure. They have tried other ways to lose and maintain weight but have not been successful. It brings me great joy that I am able to play a role in helping people make positive changes that not only affect their weight but also their health.
What is your favorite HMR Recipe? My absolute favorite is the Cheese and Basil Ravioli Entrée over spaghetti squash and topped with sautéed mushrooms and bell pepper.
What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy doing crafts with my daughter and sampling new recipes to use the vegetables that I get in my CSA share. I also love to run. I completed my first marathon in April 2011.

What I enjoy most about my job is being able to see people working really hard to make changes in their lifestyle every day, and being able to enjoy things they have never done before or haven't done in years. Not many jobs give you an opportunity to really make a difference in someone's life, but here at HMR we make it happen every day.

What do you like most about your job with HMR? That's easy! Celebrating the milestones with our patients. Sure we celebrate a big loss on the scale, and when someone hits the 50 pound mark. But I especially love when patients share what that really means - getting to fly on an airplane without having to ask for a seatbelt extender, or getting to wear a favorite dress they haven't been able to get into for years!
What is your favorite HMR Recipe? The Butterscotch Banana Shake made with HMR 120 Shake, a banana, sugar-free butterscotch pudding mix, and sugar-free English toffee syrup.
What do you like to do for fun? I love all sorts of physical activity, but especially racquetball, zumba, and riding my bike outside. I also enjoy playing in a band I recently joined called the Bats. At age 50, I am the youngest member! It's a mix of everything from rock-n-roll to cabaret and comedy.... we have the best time!!

What is your favorite HMR Recipe? Spinach Ravioli Bake with fresh baby spinach and shallots, a touch of balsamic vinegar, then layered in a casserole dish with the Cheese and Basil Ravioli. Top with low-fat parmesan cheese and bake until bubbly. YUM!
What do you like to do for fun? Long walks with my husband and dog through our neighborhood and trails throughout our city. We also love to hike in the mountains. This summer we went to northern Georgia and hiked a tiny bit on the Appalachian Trail at the terminus on Springer Mountain.
